However, the negative effects of acne can be avoided with the appropriate care, treatment and prevention. While acne is not curable, it is important to remember that with the appropriate care, it is treatable and controllable.

Acne presents in four different stages: Non-Inflammatory, Moderate, Inflammatory and Severe. Each stage of acne is defined by its severity and should be treated appropriately to avoid developing into different, more aggressive stages. At NuVea MedSpa, the Aesthetician will recommend professional treatments as well as at-home regimens to maximize the skin care program and its results. Our professional treatments may include deep pore cleansings, chemical and acid peels, sapphire photo abrasion and/or blue light therapy. At-home treatments may include cleansers, toners, moisturizers and treatment gels consisting of glycolic and salicylic acids, vitamin A and benzoyl peroxide. Of course, with any recommended treatment, it is wise to avoid any products containing oils, alcohols, and facial scrubs to prevent tearing the skin and spreading bacteria. In severe cases, antibiotics may be combined with the topical treatments to achieve maximum results.
